Dear Grace Seminary Student:

Greetings in the Name of our Wonderful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! As Head Mistress of Grace Seminary for Women, I personally welcome you! Today you are beginning a significant educational journey that will provide you with keen insight into God’s Word, motivation to minister to your husband, children and community as well as within the Biblical roles God has given you within the Church. By registering, you have shown your confidence in the truth of God’s reality in history and in the Christian walk.

To endeavor to advance your knowledge and understanding of God is an admirable goal and one that will be richly rewarding. I believe you have made a good decision, which will have many positive ramifications in your life and ministry. In order to succeed in your pursuit, let me outline some of the steps you will take on your journey.

The most important component that I cannot stress enough to you is self-discipline. The Apostle Paul names this as one of the spiritual fruits that all Christians are empowered by the Holy Spirit to exercise (Galatians 5;23). For example, you have finished putting the children to bed on a Saturday night, all is laid out for Sunday service and you have some time to yourself. I ask you, “What will you do with that free time?” Will you watch T.V. or study Calvin’s Institutes? To be sure you will not need to study Calvin every free moment, however you will need to exercise a good deal of self-discipline and consistency in order to complete your degree.

A second vital component to completing your studies is self-motivation. Can you motivate yourself to complete course work on time, read, develop and think over important study materials during your free “thinking time”? You will need to motivate yourself to use every opportunity to develop ideas and think deeply about your faith and its vital relevance to academic study and everyday living.

If these components are in place, you will succeed. Please remember that we are here to help you. The Grace academic and administrative offices can be reached during the day, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time. If you call after hours, please leave a message and someone will get back to you. You may also email any questions to admin@gracesem.org .

May God bless you as you begin today to press on toward your studies and as you pursue God’s perfect will in your life. May He give you strength and encouragement!

Sola Gratia,

Mrs. Nancy A. Almodovar
